Deepa Malik becomes 1st Indian woman Paralympic medallist, wins silver at Rio

Deepa Malik a 45-year-old wheelchair-bound mother of two daughters and wife of a veteran cavalier Colonel from Gurgaon has created a history by winning a silver medal at Rio Paralympics. She she became the first Indian woman player to win a silver medal in shot put at the Rio Paralympics. Her strong throw of 4.61 m got a silver to her kitty.


She is an inspiration for entire world's women. An Arjuna Award winner at the age of 42, Deepa Malik does not has sensation below her chest and even after her life being so difficult she is managed to balance her family life and her sportsperson spirit. This will power made her the first Indian woman to get a medal and helped her to crate history.

It seems that this is her best birthday gift so far, yes Deepa is going to celebrate her birthday on 30th September. She was born on 30th September in 1970 in a Hindu jaat family of Sonipat, Haryana. She is also associated with Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (F.M.S.C.I.) as well as Himalayan Motorsports Association (H.M.A.).

Deepa Malik is the first woman ever to get a license for invalid (modified) rally vehicle. She is also the first physically challenged person in India to get an official rally license from the Federation Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI) and become a navigator and driver in the toughest car rallies of the country- Raid-de-HIMALAYA 2009 and Desert Storm 2010.

Deepa Malik has a family of two beautiful daughters Devika & Ambika and very proud husband Colonel Bikram Singh. Being a Army family member, Deepa Malik is very disciplined lady and that made her goal, easy to achieve.

This is not the first achievement in Deepa's life, she has been awarded with a lots of other awards and medals before.  Deepa Malik has been chosen for Limca World Records an after her achievement in Rio Paralympics, she is going to get ₹4 crore from the Government of Haryana and ₹50 lakh from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
